15 gm (½ c.) low protein bread crumbs
35 grams finely chopped onion
75 grams finely chopped fresh mushrooms
1 T. water plus 2 tsp. egg replacer
1 T. catsup
1 package beef-flavored G. Washington’s Seasonings & Broth mix
Salt to taste
Bread crumbs should be finely crumbled— toasting bread or letting it sit out to dry works best. A food processor works well to finely chop onions and mushrooms but don't overdo or the mushrooms become a paste. Combine bread crumbs, onions and mushrooms. Mix egg replacer with water and stir well. Drizzle this over mixture and stir till moist. Add catsup, GW broth mix and salt. Stir or use hands to mix, similar to making meat loaf. Add a tiny bit of water if mixture does not hold together to make patties— not too much. Fry these in a hot skillet with either cooking spray or a small amount of oil.
Calculate the amount of protein, leucine and calories from your low protein bread recipe and add to the amounts listed below. This will probably add around 10 mg of leucine to this recipe. Divide the total recipe values by the number of patties made.
